Chilean Legends
In Chilean literature there are many legends relating to the culture and history of Chille. Here are two of our favorites.
The legend of Caleuche originates in the fishing villages of the archipelago of southern Chile. The Ghost Ship, El Caleuche, is said to sometimes appear to sailors in the middle of a raging storm, glowing with an eerie white light, and creating a momentary calm. Any sailor who sees El Caleuche knows that he is doomed either to a watery grave or to an eternity of service on the crew of the Ghost Ship.
The Trail of the Crazy Gringo tells the story of "Mr. Tommy", an Englishman who has an encounter with "gold fever" in the mountains of the central part of the country.
We hope you enjoy them both!
