In the summer of 1992 I left Lake Itasca in northern Minnesota in my Mad River canoe on an epic voyage down the Mississippi River. 101 days later I reached the Gulf of Mexico exhausted and dirty, but with a tremendous sense of accomplishment at completing the trip of a lifetime. I hope you'll share in my adventure by checking out some of the following choices, each of which gives a different perspective of the trip.

Narrative Summary
This section includes some of my written reflections at the beginning of the trip about why I was doing it and about the connection between the Mississippi and my own life and personal history. The narrative is accompanied by selected photos from the trip.
